“It’s the devil,” Frex said, sighing. “The devil is coming.”
“Don’t say a thing like that on a day our child is expected!”
“I mean the temptation in Rush Margins! And you know what I mean, Melena!”
Words are words, and what’s said is said!” she answered.

Wicked: The Life and Times of The Wicked Witch of The West – Gregory Maguire

I’m note sure how I feel about this excerpt-and I wrote this down in the book too. Excuse me if I don’t elaborate further on these points, I think it’s wise to revisit this once I succeed in my seemingly everlasting efforts at actually finishing a book.

Part of me thinks that:

  1. Trust a person to say what they need to say and feel is justified.
  2. Accountability.
  3. Ick.
  4. Primitive, (one has) a mind, (so) use it to express (oneself) using a no-doubt eloquent vocabulary.
  5. Man (XY) vs Rock – no contest, man wins. Therefore man (race) masters his words.

Another part of me excuses the brazen choice of words and considers the wife’s protest an overreaction because…

  1. Dramatic, ideal words (are best) to vent frustration?
  2. Man (XY) = Rock
