So about last week or so, one of my friends called me with an interesting query. Her little brother wanted to know how one would be able to record their gaming on digital video format in order to potentially upload it onto YouTube. It’s pretty easy if you know what you’re looking for, and as fate would have it, here’s an illustrated guide on how to do just that.

What You'll Need
The most sure way for you to find a Dazzle Capture Card is through Amazon.com. As for the other accessories, most electronic-specialized stores have the splitters, and A/V cables in abundance. Lawazim el 3ayla.
The Dazzle Capture Card comes with three installation CDs. You only need to install the Quickstart CD and the Instant DVD Recorder CD. Pinnacle Studio, the editing software, is very problematic for many people, so it’s best to just skip it.
REMEMBER: YOU’LL NEED TO INSTALL THE CDS FIRST. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THEM. DO NOT PLUG ANYTHING IN UNTIL YOU HAVE THE TWO CDS INSTALLED. YOU’VE BEEN INFORMED. ALL STEPS ARE TO BE APPLIED ONLY AFTER THE INSTALLATION PROCESS.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3
It’s now time to use your A/V cables.

Step 4
Plug the other end of your A/V cables into your TV set. A simple way to think about it is that you’ve simply extended the console’s A/V cable.

Step 5
You’ve been aware of the USB cable sticking out of your Dazzle Capture Card all along, haven’t you? Simply plug it into your PC/Laptop. Start up Instant DVD Recorder.

Step 6
Start up the Instant DVD Recorder application and enforce the options highlighted in the above image. You can tinker with the capture source options to adjust the brightness, contrast, as well as saturation. There you can also adjust the video standard if the video is shown cropped about halfway in the preview window.
Select Burner is simply where you want the recorded footage to end up on your computer.
Click Start Recording to begin recorder, and Stop, to stop.
The folder containing the original footage will have three files in it. You want the .VOB file only. Windows Media Player cannot edit this file extension. Either find a converter or a software that can edit the extension. I use CyberLink PowerDirector to edit my footage.
Enjoy!

Glad to help! You’re welcome.
Back in the day, TVs used to have “TV out” which you can plug to a VCR or PC TV-capture card… :/
