…Kind of exciting. Actually, I had more fun looking it up than knowing it’ll be released this year.

I was sitting on my couch, being bored and playing Grand Theft Auto IV (I seriously need to look into replaying Metal Gear Solid 4) and then decided to go ahead and look up GTAV‘s release date.

I didn’t find too many leads, but it seems to be confirmed that the game will be released this year, and definitely not as late as 2011. It was rumored to be released in 2009, but was delayed to 2010.

Because Take Two also produces Bioshock, it’s likely that Bioshock II will be delayed in favor to complete and begin selling GTAV, purely because it’s the bigger, more successful franchise.

Here’s the jist of it:

1. The basic engine will be the same as GTA4‘s, and that sounds good to me.
2. It’ll be called Streets of Tokyo or some variation of that.
3. It’s coming out this year, on or hopefully before the end of October. I expect it might even be delayed further so that people can put it on their holiday shopping lists for November/December.
4. It’s estimated to sell as many as 18 million units.

Interesting fact: The world population will be around 7,000,000,000 by October 31, 2010. Wow. So many of us. I wish I knew most of us.
